For Officials

Pre-game checklists.

Position-by-position responsibilities for 5-man and 6-man crews. Print one for your bag or pull it up on your phone before you take the field.

5-Man Crew

5 officials · 4 sheets

Five officials, four sheets: the two wings share the Line of Scrimmage checklist. Each sheet covers points of emphasis, pre-game duties, kickoff, scrimmage-down keys and end-of-game responsibilities for that position.

6-Man Crew

6 officials · 4 sheets

Six officials, four sheets: the wings share one checklist and the deep wings share another. Coverage areas and deep responsibilities shift from the 5-man mechanics, so work from the 6-man sheet when you are in a six-official game.

Where to line up

Scrimmage pre-snap

Starting positions exactly as written on the checklists above, not a generic mechanic. Worth noting the Umpire: in a 5-man crew he works 7 yards off the line on the defensive side, but in a 6-man crew he starts in the offensive backfield.
